Installation
KeepDrop is packaged as a DMG for Apple silicon Macs running macOS 26 or later. The release process requires Developer ID signing and Apple notarization; a public notarized artifact has not yet been linked here.
- Download the official public DMG when its link is available. LOCAL-PREVIEW builds are for local testing, not public distribution.
- Open the DMG and drag KeepDrop into Applications.
- Launch KeepDrop from Applications and add a local folder. Installation does not import or copy your photo library.
Keeping up to date
Updates are manual. Quit KeepDrop, then replace the App in Applications with the newer official version. Replacing the App preserves locally saved folder access, favorites, review decisions and preferences.
There is no built-in automatic updater. Published versions and verified changes will be listed here when available.
First-release notes · draft
No public version has shipped through this site. This feature summary is prepared for the first release and will be checked against that build.
- One library: shared All, Favorites and Similar across added folders and their subfolders.
- Focus: a larger photo view with a filmstrip.
- Similar: side-by-side comparison with synchronized zoom and pan.
- KEEP and review: consider the remaining photos before confirming Trash, with same-session Undo.
- Local media: images, supported RAW formats, videos and paired Live Photos.
To be confirmed. Add the final version/date, verified changes and release-specific known issues.
Known limits
- Local folders only; no direct Apple Photos or iCloud Photos integration.
- No Intel build is currently offered.
- Standalone videos are not included in Similar groups.
- Preview and playback depend on format and macOS decoder support.
- Undo is available in the same App session; recovery afterward uses the system Trash or another existing copy.
